HAT BRIM:
ROW 1: With dark yarn and hook ch-26, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc next 2 ch, sc next 3, sl st next 12, sc next 3, hdc last 3 ch, fasten off. (24 sts + sl sts)
ROW 2: With dark yarn and hook join in 1st st bottom of row 1, you will be working across the bottom of the foundation row (in bottom of sts made row 1), ch-1, hdc same st as beg ch-1, hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.  (24 sts)
ROW 3-6: Hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.  (23 sts)(22 sts)(21 sts)(20 sts)
ROW 7-9: Hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc ea st across to last 2 sts, hdc dec last 2 sts, ch-1, turn.  End row 9 fasten off.  (18 sts)(16 sts)(14 sts)

This tutorial takes your from row 1 to the finish for the brim on this Monkey Hat. I’ve purposely done row 1 in a different color than row 2 to better show how to join and work the bottom of the foundation row.
