you won’t have the same number in ea section. It would break down like this: 3 rings for the (black round) end, then seven sections with 8 rings ea, three sections with 7 rings ea and another 3 rings at the end: 3-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-7-7-7-3. This is how you will space the 2 black crochet rounds and the 9 camouflage rounds that will make up the center of the armadillo.

Beginning with a black crochet round, slide or wind the rings across the entire Slinky spacing them as described above. With needle and matching yarn sew the rounds to the closest ring to hold in place. Set aside.

FRONT\BACK OF ANIMAL:

With Black and H hook rep rnd 1-3 of ring.

RND 4: Hdc ea st around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn.

RND 5: (2 hdc next st, hdc next 2 sts) around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (36 sts)

RND 6-7: Rep rnd 4.

RND 8: (2 hdc next st, hdc next 3 sts) around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (45 sts)

RND 9: Rep rnd 4, fasten off.

-make 2. Stuff and sew to black crochet rounds on finished Slinky.

FRONT ARMOR PIECES:

RND 1: With Camouflage and H hook ch-8, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc next 4 ch, 3 hdc last ch, turn piece so you are now working across the bottom of the foundation ch (in bottom of sts just made), hdc next 4, 2 hdc last, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (14 sts)

RND 2: 2 hdc next 2 sts, hdc next 4, 2 hdc next 3, hdc next 4, 2 hdc last st, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (20 sts)

RND 3: 2 hdc next 2 sts, hdc next 4, 2 hdc next 6, hdc next 4, 2 hdc last 4 sts, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (32 sts)

RND 4: (2 hdc next st, hdc next st) 4 times, hdc next 4, rep bet () 6 times, hdc next 4, rep bet () twice, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (44 sts)

RND 5: Hdc ea st around, sl st top beg hdc, fasten off.

=make 2. Sew pieces tog at sides and then onto front of animal making sure the pieces over lap a couple of rings that form its center.

LEGS:

With Black and H hook ch-3, sl st to form a ring.
